Building a Stronger Legal Profession Strengthening the Rule of Law Enhancing Public Confidence in Justice
The Mandate

A national dialogue on renewal and reform

The legal profession is a cornerstone of constitutional governance, the administration of justice, and the safeguarding of citizens' rights. Its effectiveness depends not only on the quality of laws and judicial processes, but on the strength, independence and integrity of the profession itself.

The profession in Sierra Leone stands at an important crossroads. Fragmented representation, concerns over independence, and the growing influence of political considerations have weakened collective engagement and reduced opportunities for constructive dialogue on the administration of justice.

This Conference convenes the Bar, the Bench, legal academics, students, public officers and other stakeholders in a frank, respectful and forward-looking dialogue — moving the conversation beyond institutional divisions toward a shared vision for a stronger, more independent and more trusted profession.

Purpose

Why we convene
